new years resolution #3

Explore London more. Why? Because it’s super amazing, and I live here, and who knows how long I’ll live here for… ok, we have no plans to move or anything, but y’know. I’ve got into the habit of going back to familiar places lots, and grown tired of the long journeys across the city, but there are still SO MANY parts of London I’ve never even visited. Oh, and when I do, I have to take my SLR so I can take amazing photos, and maybe even learn how to actually use it. So, on Saturday, some friends and I went to Richmond, and it’s GORGEOUS! And it was freezing, and sunny, and we went for a walk, followed by mulled wine in a pub garden watching the sunset. And even though it was a bit of a trek, I’m so glad we went, and it was so very pretty…

Write to people more! Why? Because receiving an unexpected envelope in the post is one of the most exciting things ever. I love emails, but letters and cards are the best, and it’s a really easy way of getting creative. And also becuase Fran got me some freaking awesome stationery for Christmas. So it would be rude not to. Yeay!

Wear heels more. Why? Because life’s too short not to wear heels. I’ve been a flat shoe wearer for a long long long time, becauase I am tall and feel quite self conscious in heels (I know, stoopid), because I looove ballet pumps and mocassins and comfort, because I snapped my ACL in 2010 and couldn’t physically wear heels for quite a while, so I’m really out of practice, also, because I’m suprisingly good at falling over. But then I see a lovely lady wearing gorgeous heels and I go *siiiiiiiiigh*. That’s why.

Everyone seems to be doing 2011 round ups, and new years resolutions, so I’m going to join in, hurrah! I didn’t do anything like this last year, we seemed to mostly be obsessing about whoopie pies, and buying new lingerie, ha. (It’s really fuuunnnyyy looking back on old posts!) But I do recall a few of my resolutions for 2011…

1) Visit some new countries. Well, I’m well on my way to 30 before I’m 30. In March Nick and I had the holiday of a lifetime in Indonesia, I also visited Ireland for the first time with some friends, and just a few weeks ago we went to Eygpt and Jordan. Only 4 to go, yipee!

2) Start baking. Urm. I went out and bought a load of cake tins, snazzy utensils, cookie cutters. Then I made a blueberry soured cream cake. It was yum. Then I didn’t really do any more of that. I’ll just have to leave that to Fran!

3) Read more books. I did this to the max! And really enjoyed it, must continue. Highlights were Caitlin Moran’s How To Be a Woman (hilarious), Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman and The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

4) Get fit. *ahem* bit of a massive fail here… that can roll over to 2012. (Is anyone else having trouble saying twenty twelve instead of two thousand and twelve? I am.)

It has also been the year of becoming obsessed with pinterest, instagram and most recently twitter… I never thought the day would come…! There have been some lovely trips with family and friends, in the UK and across the channel, I enjoyed the hottest Spring, and hottest ever Autumn in London, and I bought my first pair of heels since my knee surgery, ha!

It’s the end of a lovely Christmassy few days in Hampshire… I hope you all had a fabulous festive time! We enjoyed retro cocktails, homemade mince pies, silly games with our enormous family, long country walks, eating too much, the ususal! For someone who is fairly well know for obsessively taking photos, I took a shockingly small number this year… clearly we were having too much fun! New years resolution number one – take more photos. HA. Keeping this short & sweet, but wishing you a very happy new year! See you in 2012!

Craving a bit of sparkle in my wardrobe in the run up to Christmas…

I would happily wear sequins every day of the week right now, like this j crew number but that’s probably a little over the top, isn’t it?! My christmas cards are made, (tiny) tree is up, but slightly panicking about christmas shopping, eeep!
